Antifouling and anti-corrosive protection
Antifouling and anti-corrosive protection
Antifouling and anti-corrosive coatings are designed to protect materials like steel from corrosion and degradation. Since its founding over 100 years ago, CMP has been continuously improving and refining its antifouling and anti-corrosion technologies to protect materials from highly fouling and corrosive environments.
Coatings not only provide decoration for urban landscapes and living environments but also extend the useful lifespan of materials by preventing rust, and even help improve the fuel efficiency of vessels by preventing the attachment of marine organisms. These specialized coating products play a beneficial role in society by maintaining the performance of a wide range of structures and facilities.
Antifoulings
Operating vessels without antifoulings is said to reduce fuel efficiency by 40%, making antifoulings essential for the efficient operation of vessels. CMP has been developing state-of-the-art antifoulings since its founding over 100 years ago.
CMP has also applied this antifouling technology cultivated in the marine sector to deliver highly-respected antifouling performance in a variety of other market segments, such as fishing nets, marine structures, and electric power facilities.

Primary applications
| Large vessels | Ships, propellers, sea chests, etc. |
|---|---|
| Fishing nets | Aquaculture nets, fixed nets, buoys, etc. |
| Marine structures | Offshore oil and gas facilities and ancillary facilities, offshore power generation facilities, oilfield facilities, etc. |
| Electric power facilities | Seawater intake piping |
MOSE project
CMP’s products were chosen for the MOSE project, a movable flood barrier construction project designed to act as flood defenses for the city of Venice in northern Italy.
Coatings for structures that remain submerged on the seafloor must offer excellent anti-corrosive and antifouling performance and must also have minimal impact on the environment. Following more than 10 years of evaluating coating materials and coating systems under these demanding conditions, the coating film performance of CMP’s antifoulings (BIOCLEAN, etc.) has been proven.

Anti-corrosive coatings
Vessels, bridges, and marine structures made of steel are exposed to extremely harsh corrosive environments due to the water and salt in the oceans and rivers.
Anti-corrosive coatings are responsible for protecting these steel structures and equipment from such harsh environments. Since its founding over 100 years ago, CMP has been applying its anti-corrosion technology and expertise—cultivated in the marine sector—in a variety of other market segments, such as containers, plant facilities, and concrete structures.
