Epoxy coating for high-temperature exposure environments

EPICON HR

Enhanced heat resistance while maintaining the anti-corrosive performance and workability of epoxy coating!

EPICON HR is ideal for high-temperature areas in marine environments, but also electric power facilities, plant facilities, and a range of industries. With the innovative performance of EPICON HR, areas that usually require expensive non-ferrous metal parts can be replaced to “steel + coating.”

Product features

EPICON HR is a heat-resistant epoxy coating developed for the external surfaces of steam piping and other high-temperature exposure environments, withstanding sustained temperatures of up to 200°C.

EPICON HR combines the excellent anti-corrosive performance of epoxy coatings with heat resistance, protecting high-temperature exposure components that are often prone to rusting and helping reduce maintenance requirements.

Compared to inorganic zinc and heat-resistant silicone coatings, applying EPICON HR is also less labor-intensive, requiring less surface preparation and eliminating the baking process needed to cure heat-resistant silicone coatings.

Excellent heat resistance up to 200°C and anti-corrosive performance

Excellent adherence to steel and many non-ferrous metals

Excellent workability, compatible with power tool cleaning

Cures without a baking process

The secret to heat resistance

Epoxy polymer used for anti-corrosive coatings normally starts to carbonize when heated above 150°C.

Utilizing our unique polymer technology, EPICON HR features a coating structure that resists carbonization at temperatures up to 200°C.

Application example (heat transfer line on ship cargo tank, operating temperature: 170°C, one year after application)

For a part normally left unpainted and wrapped in insulation, the client wanted a solution to address rust inside the insulation. A comparative test of EPICON HR and a pure epoxy coating was performed.

The photograph shows the test area one year after application. The area coated with a pure epoxy coating is discolored due to carbonization, while the area coated with EPICON HR remains in good condition.
