Social Contribution Activities
Table of Contents
Basic concept
In October 2024, the CMP Group established the Social Contribution Activity Policy to address community issues in regions closely connected to its business activities and to contribute to realizing a sustainable society through various community-oriented initiatives.
We will continue to carry out activities in line with this policy.
Management structure
The Coexistence with Local Communities Subcommittee of the Sustainability Committee is working with related departments in Japan to promote initiatives. Overseas, each subsidiary is proactively engaged in social contribution activities that are closely connected to their local communities. Once a year, we receive reports from domestic and overseas Group companies outlining their social contribution activities and their costs.
Initiatives and track record
■ Social contribution activities
Charity vending machine installation
We have installed charity vending machines at our Shiga Factory, and other locations to provide an opportunity for employees to engage in social contribution activities. For every drink purchased, ¥10 is donated, and the donations are utilized through the projects of the Nippon Foundation.
Volunteer leave system
We have established a system to support employees’ social contribution activities so that they can connect with society and contribute to solving social issues. Employees can use their accumulated annual leave to take extended leaves for purposes such as volunteer activities.
Scholarships
Our Group company in South Korea awarded scholarships to local elementary school students to support education.
Participation in Wheel The Ground, an initiative to share barrier-free information for wheelchair users
The Group company in Singapore organizes team-building events, including off-site activities and games, aimed at strengthening teamwork, communication, and unity within the workplace.
At an event held on May 31, 2024, in cooperation with organizations for people with disabilities and SmartBFA, the company participated in Wheel The Ground. Teams assembled wheelchairs and, together with three Inclusion Ambassadors, explored wheelchair-accessible routes in the central business district areas of Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar, Downtown Core, Bayfront, and Suntec City, creating maps of these routes. The data collected through the map-making process was shared by Wheel The Ground with urban planners and others, and is being utilized to promote barrier-free access throughout Singapore.
Provision of vegetables grown at the Kashiwa Farm to children’s cafeterias
At the Tokyo Headquarters, we donate vegetables harvested at the Kashiwa Farm—where our employees with disabilities work—to a children’s cafeteria in Ryugasaki, Ibaraki Prefecture, through the NPO Mirai no Kodomo Network. In fiscal 2024, we made 14 donations.
Sponsorship of yacht races
We sponsored yacht races and worked to promote marine sports by providing coatings for pleasure boats and yachts.
Volunteer participation in the National Sports Festival SAGA 2024
We participated as volunteers in the volleyball competition at the 78th National Sports Festival SAGA 2024, held in Saga Prefecture from October 5 to 15, 2024.
Crowdfunding donation for replacing the doctor car of Saiseikai Shiga Hospital
The doctor car operated by Saiseikai Shiga Hospital plays a vital role in saving the lives of local residents and providing prompt medical assistance in emergencies. As the vehicle had been in use for 10 years, the Shiga Factory made a donation through a crowdfunding campaign to support its replacement.
Support for pink ribbon campaign
At the Kyushu Factory, we have installed a pink ribbon vending machine and donated to the Japan Cancer Society’s “Smile Fund” through the purchase of drinks to support activities to reduce the number of women suffering from cancer as much as possible.
Cleanup activities
The Shiga Factory participated in the Gioui River cleanup activity organized by the local citizen group Fieldwork Yasu and joined the city of Yasu’s Zero Waste Campaign. The Hiroshima Head Office and Ohtake-Meishin Chemical took part in a campaign to clean up areas surrounding factories in the city of Otake. Other Group laboratories and production sites also regularly conducted cleanups around their facilities.
Factory tour for Kuba Junior High School students
In response to the comprehensive learning program of Kuba Junior High School, titled “What kind of town is our town, Kuba? Let’s proudly talk about what makes Kuba special,” we provided explanations about our products and organized a tour of our laboratory and other facilities.
Dispatch of instructors
We dispatched a lecturer to a class on marine coatings for elementary and junior high school students hosted by the Cooperative Association of Japan Shipbuilders.
